Leading the huge ensemble cast is Golden Globe nominated and People’s Choice award winner, Caitriona Balfe who plays Claire Randall a 27 year old British Army nurse. Set in 1945, Claire and her husband Frank Randall are taking a second honeymoon in Scotland after the end of World War 2. The couple visit a strange stone formation called Craigh na Dun and Claire finds herself transported back in 1743 after touching the rock. She struggles to fit in with her modern knowledge and opinions while simultaneously trying to find a way back to the stones at Craigh na Dun, and back to her own time. While in 1743, Claire befriends Jamie, a Highland warrior, and faces various risks of the time period, including the sadistic Black Jack Randall who also happens to be Frank’s ancestor.
Season 2 kicks off with a monumental emotional bang. Claire struggles to reconcile her future with her past as she returns to her own time and reunites with her husband, Frank after a two year absence. Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies and Duncan Lacriox also star in the hit drama.
